“Rosk music is just like Chamoy, sweet, but it will burn you”
— Chacho Peniche
Rosk is lava.
Rosk, the brainchild of Mexico City-based artist Rosan Sashida, is an innovative indie oblique-pop music project. Rosk has released an EP, numerous singles, and the acclaimed album "Art Collective," which collectively garnered over a quarter-million plays on Spotify and maintains a monthly listenership of 6,000.
Rosan is a non-binary queer artist with an educational background in film production from the Vancouver Film School in Canada and her studies in composition at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Rosan is also the owner and founder of The Rock Lab, a renowned musical instruments boutique in Mexico City that serves as an epicenter for local musicians. Additionally, she runs Holawave, a unique synth shop, further contributing to Mexico City's vibrant music scene.
Rosk's music features a unique fusion of raw, emotive rock guitars, electronic beats, and lyrics in both English and Spanglish, creating a sound that is both exotic and sophisticated.
Rosk has captivated audiences on international stages and at renowned festivals, including Sonorama Ribera del Duero (Spain), Festimad (Spain), Europa Sur, and multiple LGTBQ+ pride festivals in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Madrid and others. She has been featured in Los Conciertos de Radio 3 in Spain and the Festival Cervantino in Mexico. Her performances are not only musically engaging but also visually striking, often featuring thematic stage props like the iconic 2-meter tall unicorn inflatable, symbolizing her "Art Collective" album.
In 2024, Rosk continues to innovate with the release of "Resistencia," exploring forced migration in collaboration with Spanish producer Victor Valiente. She's also done 2 classic rock re-interpretations Aerosmith's "Pink" accompanied by a visually striking video featuring human Barbies and re-imagined Elvis' Blue Hawaii. These endeavors highlight Rosk's ongoing commitment to pushing creative boundaries and exploring diverse musical landscapes.
Rosk's dedication to addressing social issues through her music extends to collaborations with feminist labels like Now Girls Rule and Jueves in Mexico. Her single "Let Them Be," featuring a video filmed at Mexico's Bioparque Estrella, highlights her commitment to animal protection. Rosk represents more than a mere music project; it embodies a dynamic and multi-faceted artistic pursuit. Rosan Sashida's cinematic vision and emotive storytelling consistently captivate and inspire, firmly establishing Rosk as a leading presence in the contemporary indie music scene.
